My Journey

Do you ever look back with amazement at your journey through life? All the different experiences you’ve had? The people you’ve met and their different influences? Everything that has made you who you are today?

I said I would share a bit about my journey so you can get to know more about me and how I came to be doing the work I love now.

I was born into hardship, poverty and although my parents were incredibly well-meaning, they were naturally victims of their own backgrounds, as we all are. With 3 younger siblings attention was short, money was short, emotional nurturing was zilch.

I was bullied at school, as were my siblings. Growing up, my self-image, self-esteem, self- worth, and self-confidence were all just about non-existent. I married very young at 19 to a well intentioned man yet with an equally troubled soul. It was a very rocky relationship.

My soul was searching; searching for some semblance of what I so desperately craved – to find happiness.

As I now understand, that rocket of desire caused the great Universe to respond! By “sheer chance” I was introduced to Louise Hay’s book “You Can Heal Your Life”. That was when I found direction; what I needed to do to create my own lasting happiness!

I spent the next 8 years devouring all I could with similar material to be able to work on myself to clear the immensely damaging patterns and beliefs I’d taken on board and to connect with that innate part of me that feels like ‘home’. The place where inner peace and true happiness reside.

I continued to have a rocky road in that time. More tumultuous relationships, more hardships and lots of pain. I came to realise that once we’ve truly learned our lesson in any given area, the Universe stops throwing things at us in that area. Until we do, we get ‘bashed over the head’ again and again with those same unwanted things. It has very much taught me to understand the reason why so many people ‘give up’ on themselves

and accept their lot. It can be a long haul when it comes to shifting some really persistent deeply held patterns or beliefs!

I’d always had a desire to help women be their best and ran a beauty business in these years. I shared things I was learning with my clients. They often said “You’re good at this – you should do this for a living!” It gelled with me. I realised this was my calling!

I embarked on various professional training programmes and became a Metaphysical Life Coach, a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist and a Solution Focused Brief Therapist. Working with clients I found the greatest need was about depression or associated conditions. I founded Depression Busting Courses in 2010 and have had the privilege of helping people from all over the world to not only beat depression for good but to find their own inner ‘home’ for lasting happiness.

My book, “Beat Your Depression For Good”, published by a division of Hay House, is out October 2014.

If you have found this blog or my website because of your own depression, anxiety or associated condition please just know this: I don’t have 2 heads or 4 arms or a string of degrees. I just had the willingness to give myself the best chance I could to make the most of my life.

That’s ultimately all it takes.

What’s your story? What can you look back over in your life? How much willingness do you have to make the most of your life?
